Yubyub is an app made by Danial, an independent developer in Singapore ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Yubyub app and yubyub.app, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.
The short version: your favourites can see when you're free or busy, never what you're doing. Your calendar's event details never leave your phone. We don't sell your data.
What we collect

Your calendar
- Yubyub reads your phone's calendar on your phone. Only the start and end times of busy events are saved, so we can mark you busy.
- Event titles, places, notes and attendees never leave your phone. Friends see "busy 7 pm – 9 pm", never what it is.
- All-day events are ignored unless they're marked busy (for example "out of office"). You can stop calendar reading and set your hours by hand instead.
Crew rosters
- If you upload a roster screenshot or PDF, it's read by an AI service to pull out your flights, times, cities and standby. Your name, staff number and rank are removed before it's read, and colleagues' names are never kept.
- The file is deleted once it's read. We keep only your duties, after you've checked them.
- We use the AI service on a paid plan that doesn't use your roster to train its models.
- Duty codes and report times are only ever shown to you.
Location
- If you allow it, Yubyub checks your location only while you're using the app, never in the background.
- We use it to keep your current city up to date and to confirm a trip before giving travel rewards and passport stamps.
- Friends only ever see your city, never your exact location. You can turn location off in your phone's settings; the app then uses your home city, roster and trips instead.

We never show anyone when you're online, and nothing is shared just because you're in the same Street.
Ads and purchases
- Yubyub has no banner or pop-up ads. You can choose to watch a short video for Yubits; nothing plays unless you tap it.
- These videos come from an ad partner, which may use your device's advertising ID. On iPhone we ask before any tracking, and you still get the videos if you say no.
- Yubits packs are bought through Apple or Google. We receive a receipt so we can add your Yubits, not your payment details.
Who helps us run Yubyub
We use a small number of service providers, under agreements that limit what they can do with your data:
- Supabase, for our database, sign-in and file storage.
- Apple and Google, for sign-in, in-app purchases and push notifications; Expo, to deliver notifications and app updates.
- An AI service, to read uploaded rosters (see above).
- A flight data service, to fill in route and times when you type in a flight number. Only the flight number and date are sent.
- An ad partner, for the optional reward videos.
- Cloudflare, to host yubyub.app and our waitlist; Google Workspace, for our email; Telegram, if you message us there. When someone reports an account, the reason and the two usernames are sent to our private support group on Telegram so we can act within 24 hours.
Your data may be stored and processed outside your country. We take steps to protect it wherever it's processed.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We don't use your calendar, roster, location, moments or letters for advertising.
- We don't read or upload your calendar's event details.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account data while your account is open.
- Roster files are deleted as soon as they're read.
- If you delete your account in the app (Me → Settings → Account), we delete your profile, schedule, flights, location history, moments, letters and game data within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law, such as purchase records.
- Reports you make about other people are deleted with your account. Reports someone made about you are kept without your name or profile (only the reason and the date) for 90 days after your account is deleted, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- Choose who sees your schedule in Me → Who sees your schedule, or turn sharing off.
- Stop calendar reading, remove a roster or delete a flight at any time.
- Turn location and notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Block or report someone: press and hold their card on the Globe.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example Singapore's PDPA, the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA), you may have further rights. Contact us and we'll help.
Children
You must be at least 13 to use Yubyub. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
